About
Built for people who debug the network
The fastest way to understand an app is to watch what it says to the network. The fastest way to test it is to change what the network says back.
Why Mittelware exists
Every developer eventually needs to answer the same questions. What is this app really sending? What does it do when the API returns a 502? Can I reproduce that bug without touching production?
The usual answers involve a patchwork: a debugging proxy configured by hand, a mock server that drifts from the real one, a temporary code change you hope you remember to revert. Each of them gets in the way of the thing you were actually trying to do.
Mittelware is the version we wanted: a desktop app that sits between your applications and the internet, shows you everything that passes through, and lets you block, redirect, rewrite, mock or pause any of it with a rule you can write in under a minute. It’s aimed at developers, QA engineers and anyone who works with APIs and needs the real picture.
Principles
What we care about
Your traffic is yours
A tool that reads your requests should be trusted with them. Mittelware keeps rules, settings and captured traffic on your machine, with no account.
No changes to the thing you're testing
You shouldn't have to edit an app, add a debug flag or stand up a mock server to see or bend its traffic. Put Mittelware in the middle and leave the app alone.
Honest about the limits
Apps that ignore the system proxy or pin certificates can't be inspected, and bodies over 32 MB aren't captured. We'd rather tell you that than have you lose an afternoon finding out.
Try it, then tell us what’s missing
Mittelware is young and moves quickly. The best feedback comes from people using it on real projects.
